In all these cases, the causes of yeast infection are, more or less, the same, i.e. excessive growth of Candida Albicans. And such a situation is caused by the following factors –

1. Yeast infection flows from the imbalances of the vaginal ecosystem. This imbalance is the primary cause of multiplication of Candida, which results in severe infection, irritation and itching in the vaginal region.

2. The acidic imbalance of the woman’s vagina may be the result of any of the factors, like pregnancy and other hormonal changes, like periods, birth control pills, douching solutions, diabetes, and the adverse reaction of some steroids and antibiotics.

3. Moisture and constant itching along the infected area is also responsible for the uncontrolled growth of Candida in the vagina.

4. Wearing tight-fitting clothes that prevent proper ventilation of vaginal area is also responsible for the growth of harmful microorganisms.

5. Wearing non-cotton undergarments is also a major cause of yeast infection. Non-cotton garments prevent the moisture to evaporate and tend to retain it in the private parts of the human body. This presents a perfect environment for germs like Candida to have a party!

6. Chemicals are other major causative agents of yeast infection. The chemicals contained in perfumes, inks, toilet papers, and even condoms can cause a yeast infection to flare up and present nasty rashes and constant itching.

7. A basic omission of failing to properly dry out the body, particularly private parts, like vagina and armpits, after bath is an ideal invite for the yeast to create all kinds of havoc on the moist region.

8. A weakened immune system due to prolonged illness could also lead to a nasty yeast attack.

9. Believe it or not, the yeast infection can also be categorized as a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD). It can be transferred from one infected partner to the healthy partner.

10. Processed food is also considered as one of the major causes of yeast infection. Processed food contains harmful chemicals and cooking oils that are included in preparing these processed foods to increase their shelf life. These foods put undue pressure on the digestive system of the body, thereby, prohibiting the proliferation of good bacteria in the body. And such a situation is ideal for a yeast infection to capture the moist areas of the body.

11. The presence of parasites and pathogenic organisms make your body vulnerable to yeast attacks.

12. The newborn babies are also vulnerable to yeast infection if their mother is afflicted with one. After all, the baby appears from the vagina and if that very vagina is infected, there is every chance that the baby will catch the infection too.

13. Diet plays a major role in controlling yeast infections. If you cut down yeast intake in your body, chances are that you may be saved from a yeast infection. Similarly, lower intake of sugar will help in preventing the yeast infection because Candida thrives in such imbalanced bodily conditions.

14. Prolonged wearing of damp clothes, particularly swimsuits or underwear (after getting soaked in rain) adds to the woes.

15. Untreated injury to the vagina is an invitation for trouble. The cause of injury may be any, but if left untreated, it will definitely invite harmful bacteria that can easily trigger a yeast infection.

The causes of yeast infection are mostly avoidable if you take extra precautions. However, it is not feasible to be this vigilant all the times. So, it’s better to keep the infection under check and treat it as soon as the symptoms appear.
